Account Verification

Before you can send messages through Customer.io, we need to put your account through a verification process. We do this to ensure that the accounts we’re adding to our system are businesses or individuals that have subscribers who really want to hear from them. It’s our way to filter out bad actors that might be attempting to use Customer.io for evil, rather than good.

The result of this process is that you get great deliverability and peace of mind, while we maintain our high quality standard and integrity as an email service provider.

When to request verification

As soon as you’re ready to send! Until then, you’ll be in demo mode: you’re free to explore Customer.io and get a sense for how it might work for you. All messages created or triggered during your demo mode will not actually be sent.


How to get verified

It’s very simple, we promise!

1. Click ‘I’m Ready’

You’ll see this bar on every page. Click I’m Ready to head to your Account Settings.

2. Fill in the form

Once in Account Settings, you’ll see a form that looks like this:

Just let us know your URL, and how you plan to use Customer.io. Write as much or as little as you need to! We can always follow up.

3. Wait (but not too long!)

Once you fill in the form, you should see a success message to let you know we’ve received it.

Also, instead of the ‘demo bar,’ you’ll now see a notification at the top of your browser window that lets you know we’re reviewing your information.

4. Approval

A member of our support team will get in touch as soon as we’ve reviewed your information. They’ll either let you know you’ve been approved, or request some additional information to move forward with the verification process.

FAQ

How long does it take? We do our best to respond to account verification requests as quickly as possible, as we know you’re eager to start sending! We don’t currently have a set time frame for responses as it will depend on the information you submit.

What happens if I’m not automatically approved? Not to worry - this just means that we need more information to verify that you are who you say you are! We’ll reach out directly and request a few additional pieces of information so we can move forward with approval.
