Manually Adding/Updating Profiles
While you’re generally going to integrate with your Customer.io account to send profile data, sometimes you need to add a user or update an existing profile manually, just for testing or other ad-hoc reasons. You can use our REST API for this, or you can add them via the UI.
Adding a new profile via the UI
In to the People section, click Add Person:
Fill out the form. If this is a temporary user for testing you can go ahead and make up an id or use an email address. However, if this is a permanent addition, the id will need to match the id in your database.
You can add new attributes either by selecting existing ones from the right side, or using the add attribute button and naming your attribute and adding a value:
- Save! That new person will now exist in your Customer.io database.
Updating an existing profile via the UI
You can either search for the person you want to update, or go directly to their profile by adding their id in the URL (eg. https://fly.customer.io/env/xxxxxx/people/5). If you search, you can click the user’s email to head to their profile:
- If you’d like to delete or unsubscribe this person, you can do so on the right-hand side of the screen:
Once you confirm the delete or unsubscribe, you’re finished editing.
- If you’d like to update their attributes or add new ones, click the Attributes tab, followed by the Edit Attributes button. Don’t forget to save when you’re done!
